Congratulations, you are a new home owner! Whether you are just moving in or have settled into your new home already, spring is the perfect time to get to work and do a thorough clean of your new home. You’ll not only feel prim and proper, but the home will feel brand new and all yours. Here’s five steps to spring cleaning your fabulous new home.
- From the Top…
When doing a deep clean, start at the top. Dust ceiling moldings, fans, and windows, then work your way down to the floors, corners, and general wall blemishes.
- Spiff Up the Kitchen
The kitchen is the most used space in the house, so make sure your new one is ready to go. Clean out the fridge and wipe down the entire interior. Clean out cabinet shelves and all other appliances. Wipe down all surfaces, handles, and hidden spaces. Remember to hold off on the floors until last!
- Bathroom Sanctuary
It’s hard to feel at home before you’ve done a deep clean of the bathroom, our most intimate area of the house. Get to work by disinfecting and wiping down all areas of the bathroom. From mirrors to toilet seats, bath tubs to medicine cabinets. Once you’ve done a wipe down here, you’ll already start to feel right at home.
Room by room, decide what your most treasured items will be and place them with care. If you find yourself with a lot of leftover items after the move, don’t let them deteriorate in storage boxes forever. Make use of what you can and donate the rest. Your new home is the perfect clean slate, don’t bring left-overs in to clutter it up. Consider new organizing solutions for the rest of your belongings. Make this new house your functional, tidy retreat.
- …To the Bottom!
The last bit of spring cleaning your new home should be the floors. After you’ve scrubbed and cleaned the space top to bottom, you will likely have gathered quite a bit of dust and debris on the floor. Vacuum and mop this clean for the perfect finishing touch.
Spring cleaning will make your new home truly feel like yours. Take some time to settle in and really own this new house of yours. The best is yet to come!
